The Hope of Christmas

"The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases.  His mercies shall never come to an end.  They are new every morning.  Great is thy faithfulness O Lord.  Great is thy faithfulness." (Chorus)

What a precious reminder of why Jesus came to this earth.  He came because He loved us and His love never ends.  Hard to believe, at times, in the face of divorce, verbal abuse, anxiety attacks, and emotional cut-offs.  Jesus came to bring mercy.  He brought mercy to the world where mercy seems lost in the battle for power and control between opposing family members, companies, churches, and co-workers.  On top of that, He is faithful.  Faithfulness is a quality that appears to be disappearing.  Human faithfulness is often used for personal gain.

Jesus’ birth on earth initiated the origins of our greatest hope.  The steadfastness of His love gives us a reason to live.  His unending mercy gives us a reason to keep trying.  The greatness of His faithfulness gives us confidence to finish the race set before us.

The Lord said "I have come that you might have life and live more abundantly" (John 10:10).  May you abundantly experience His steadfast love, his unending mercy, and the greatness of His faithfulness as you celebrate the life He has provided for each one of us in the birth of His son, Jesus.  Merry Christmas!
